The CompanyGCT was founded in 1965 and has presented high-quality theater for the Westchester County community ever since. More.... The Spelvin AwardGCT created the
Spelvin Award to honor those members who, over a continued period of time,
served GCT "over and above
and beyond the call of duty." Our Spelvin winners have been the leaders
and guiding spirits of GCT, and
year after year are among our busiest and most dedicated members. George Spelvin was a fictitious stage name used in the cast lists of American theatrical productions. First found in 1886 in Karl the Peddler, Spelvin's name as a playbill identity to cover doubling has persisted in more than 10,000 Broadway performances since George's debut. GCT created the Spelvin Award to honor those members who, over a continued period of time, served GCT "over and above and beyond the call of duty." In our 40+ years, the number of Spelvin winners is relatively small, although the contributions have beenand continue to betremendous. The 2011 recipient is Linda Mariano.
